By ·

On November 5, 2026, alongside its third-quarter results, Axon announced an additional $1.2 billion investment in drone maker Skydio. It takes Axon's fully diluted ownership to 37% and makes Axon Skydio's exclusive public-safety distributor in the United States and Canada. This is a minority investment plus a distribution deal, not an acquisition of Skydio.

The essentials

What is this, and what is it not?

It is an additional equity investment and an exclusive channel agreement. Axon holds 37% on a fully diluted basis, so it is not the owner of Skydio. Axon says revenue from the partnership will appear in Software and Services at its channel margin. Benzinga also describes a "total investment of $5.2 billion", which conflicts with the $5.2 billion pre-money figure; we use the latter.

How does it fit with Axon's quarter?

Benzinga reports EPS of $1.72 against a $1.88 consensus, and the stock fell. Axon lowered its 2026 revenue outlook to roughly $3.61 billion to $3.63 billion, which StockStory ties to the timing of large federal contracts, especially counter-drone. Benzinga adds that Skydio expects about $1 billion in bookings this fiscal year.

FAQ

Did Axon buy Skydio?

Where does the money come from?

A mix of cash and stock, supported by $1.15 billion Axon raised through convertible securities.

Does it change what police can buy?

In the US and Canada, public-safety agencies buy Skydio drones through Axon. We did not check what this means for existing contracts.
