Claude launches Personal Finance in US beta: bank and card accounts linked through Plaid, read-only, for Pro, Max and Ultra
Anthropic's Personal Finance beta lets US Pro, Max and Ultra users link bank and card accounts via Plaid so Claude can analyze spending; it cannot move money.
On November 5, 2026, Anthropic began rolling out Personal Finance in Claude, a beta for Pro, Max and Ultra subscribers in the United States. Users link bank and credit card accounts through Plaid and ask Claude about spending, upcoming bills and unusual charges. The access is read-only: Claude cannot move, manage or invest money, so the feature analyzes finances rather than running them. Anthropic says chats in the Personal Finance hub are not used to train its models.
The essentials
- Who gets it: US subscribers on Pro, Max and Ultra, in beta, and rolling out gradually.
- How accounts are linked: through Plaid, so the user signs in with the bank and Claude never sees the bank password.
- What Claude can see: each bank's name, account name and type, the last four digits, balances, credit limits and up to two years of transactions. For investment, loan and card accounts it reads only balances and credit limits.
- What it cannot do: move, manage or invest money, and it is not designed to give investment advice.
- What it is not: Anthropic says there are no ads or sponsored recommendations and it offers no credit cards, loans or savings accounts.
What can Claude do with the data?
Per Android Authority, users can ask where their paycheck went, whether spending has climbed and how much room remains before payday, and Claude can track upcoming bills and spot unusual charges. Users can link up to 16 US banks, according to Anthropic's help pages as relayed by The Next Web.
What are the privacy limits?
Anthropic says conversations inside the Personal Finance hub are not used to train its models and that users can disconnect accounts at any time (Blockchain.News). Accounts a user does not link stay out of view. The data Claude reads is still sensitive, and we found no independent audit of how it is stored or retained.
How does it compare with ChatGPT?
OpenAI launched a similar feature in May that lets ChatGPT see bank accounts through Plaid, first on its $200-a-month Pro tier (The Next Web). Yahoo Tech describes Claude as catching up.
