Flint runs locally, Replit Monitoring Agent, Google's EGM plugin, Claude on Google Cloud: the October 23 roundup

Four announcements from October 21 to 23, 2026, plus one market figure, all taken from official sources: a coding model that runs on a laptop, an agent that fixes production, a design method from Google and a new way to deploy Claude.

Flint: Recursive's first model, built for local coding (Oct 21)

Startup Recursive (Richard Socher) releases Flint, a mixture-of-experts model for coding agents (Recursive blog, Hugging Face model card).

Replit Monitoring Agent: an on-call agent for published apps (Oct 22)

Replit extends its agent into production (Replit blog).

Elephant-Goldfish Model: Google opens its AI-assisted design method (Oct 22)

Google open-sources (Apache 2.0) the Elephant-Goldfish Model (EGM) plugin, used internally by "thousands" of its engineers according to the announcement (Google Open Source Blog).

Claude on Google Cloud: an Anthropic-managed option (Oct 23)

Google Cloud makes generally available an Anthropic-managed deployment option for Claude, next to the Google-managed one (Google Cloud blog).

The figure: +123% for Nokia with AI and cloud customers

In Q3 2026, Nokia's net sales to AI and cloud customers grew 123% year on year and order intake 118%, with EUR 1.5 billion in new orders (Nokia interim report). The networks linking data centers are now benefiting from the AI infrastructure race too.

What it changes

Local coding models are becoming a serious option for anyone who wants to keep their code in-house, even if the scores are still the vendor's own. On agents, Replit moves AI from writing code to running it, while Google bets the other way: more human design before the first line. On cloud, choosing a model now also means choosing who processes the data.
