Anthropic filed an amended S-1 on Monday, November 2, 2026, adding results for the quarter ended September 30. Press reports give revenue of about $17 billion, an operating loss of $567 million, a net loss of $23.29 billion and about $895 billion of commitments. We could not read the 14 MB document itself; every figure is as relayed by the press.

The essentials

What does the amended S-1 show for the third quarter?

The first S-1 (October 26, 2026) had no third-quarter results; the amendment of November 2 adds them. The planned Nasdaq symbol, "ANT", is unchanged, and the statement is not yet effective (Data Studios).

Revenue was about $17 billion: $16.96 billion per Dataconomy and Shattered, "almost $17 billion" per TNW. The second quarter was $11.6 billion and the third quarter of 2025 was $1.4 billion, so the latest quarter is about twelve times that (+1,127%, Dataconomy). Sequential growth was about 47% against 144% in the second quarter (Fortune, Dataconomy). TNW also mentions an earlier reported $16.8 billion, not reconciled with "about $17 billion".

Operating expenses were $17.5 billion, against $10.6 billion in the second quarter, so the operating result went from a $974 million profit to a $567 million loss. Anthropic's explanation, per Fortune: short-term compute costs far more than compute under multi-year contracts, plus about $2 billion of non-cash charges for an employee donation-matching programme. An adjusted measure excluding stock compensation and those charges stayed positive: a 15% margin, down from 19% (Dataconomy, Data Studios).

Why is the net loss $23.29 billion?

The third-quarter net loss was $23.29 billion (TNW: $23.3 billion, against $12.1 billion a year earlier). Fortune and TNW attribute most of it to a non-cash charge on convertible notes, held mostly by Amazon per TNW, remeasured at fair value each quarter. Per TNW they convert into shares at the offering, which should largely remove that effect. Dataconomy alone puts valuation charges on convertible notes and other instruments at about $21.9 billion.

Shattered, a single source, gives a second-quarter net loss of $66.3 billion, so the third-quarter loss is smaller than the second's.

Q3 2026: operating result and net loss. Quarter ended Sept. 30, 2026, same scale for both bars, as reported. Operating result: −$567M; Net loss: −$23.29B; What explains the gap, according to the press: According to Fortune and TNW, most of it comes from a non-cash accounting charge on convertible notes (fair-value remeasurement). Dataconomy puts valuation charges at about $21.9B (single source).. The exact split of the net loss is not established, so none is drawn. Q2 2026: net loss of $66.3B (Shattered, single source). What do the $895 billion of commitments cover?

Purchase and lease commitments were about $895.4 billion on September 30, 2026, almost entirely compute and infrastructure (TNW, Fortune, Dataconomy). About $69.8 billion falls due within 12 months and about $447.5 billion by 2030 (Dataconomy; TNW, citing Bloomberg, gives about $448 billion and $70 billion). Dataconomy alone says Google's chip projects ($125 to $150 billion) and AMD's (over $20 billion) are excluded for lack of a quantified commitment. The total is about 13 times annualised third-quarter revenue, but that is the press's arithmetic (895.4 / (16.96 x 4)), not a disclosure.

Per Fortune, part relates to "Anthropic Direct", its dedicated infrastructure, meant to replace short-term compute.

Liquidity at September 30 differs: $146.6 billion including cash, short-term investments and an available credit line (Fortune), about $132 billion in cash and short-term investments (Dataconomy). Not reconciled.

Where does the listing stand?

The amendment gives no price, range, share count or date (Data Studios, Shattered). TNW, citing Bloomberg, reports a target before the end of November 2026 and a valuation of $1.4 to $1.5 trillion discussed by investors. This is reported, not in the filing and not confirmed by Anthropic; we found no statement from it. For context, the first S-1 showed $16.29 billion of first-half 2026 revenue (our articles of October 27 and 28).

What is not established?

Price, range, share count, valuation and listing date; the split of the net loss between fair value and other items; the yearly schedule of the $895 billion; gross margin; the liquidity reconciliation; future revenue.

Method and limits

We did not read the S-1/A (14 MB), only press reports and two secondary sites, through automatic summaries. Several figures ($21.9 billion, $66.3 billion, the Google and AMD exclusions) have one source. No Anthropic comment found, no tests run. This is not investment advice or a forecast.
