Perplexity launches Teammates, always-on work agents that can take several jobs at once, as a research preview for $200-a-month Max subscribers
Perplexity Teammates, launched Nov 5, are persistent agents on Perplexity Computer. Several jobs can run at once; a preview for Max subscribers on the web.
On November 5, 2026, Perplexity launched Teammates, persistent agents that take on ongoing jobs and work proactively using a user's Perplexity Computer tasks, skills, memory and tools. Reports describe it as a research preview for individual Max subscribers on the web. We read Perplexity's X announcement through search excerpts and the rest through press coverage; we did not test the product. Claude Duet, mentioned in coverage as a comparable Anthropic product, was not examined.
The essentials
- What it is: each Teammate starts from the user's existing Projects, skills and memory in Computer, monitors ongoing work and acts when something changes without being prompted, per Perplexity.
- Several jobs at once: coverage says users can assign different jobs to each Teammate and that they can work simultaneously. That is Perplexity's framing; we found no independent test.
- Who can use it: Max subscribers on the web, $200 per month. Enterprise Pro and Enterprise Max are not included by default; mobile is described as coming, though one report says iOS is already available.
- Cost: no separate Teammates price. Usage draws on the Max plan's Computer credit allocation.
How does it work?
Perplexity says each Teammate runs in its own isolated environment and follows Computer's existing tool and Project permissions. Teammates can collaborate with each other and message coworkers in Slack, for example to ask for approval or clarification. Users follow progress in a separate thread per Teammate in the Perplexity app and can interact through Slack. Perplexity gave an example of a "Search 24/7" teammate that watches metrics and reads logs.
What is marketing and what is shown?
CEO Aravind Srinivas wrote that over time Perplexity envisions every organization having hundreds of Teammates working for each person. That is a vision, not a current capability. Coverage compares Teammates with OpenAI's Dots and Anthropic's Claude Duet. Claims about reliability, error rates or time saved come from Perplexity's own materials; no independent evaluation had been published in the sources we read.
What is not established
- How reliable Teammates are on long-running, unsupervised work: no independent test found.
- How many credits a Teammate consumes: Perplexity has not published a per-activity cost, according to MLQ.ai.
- When Enterprise accounts and mobile apps get access, and whether iOS is already live (reports differ).
- How permissions and escalation rules hold up in practice, since each depends on the user's setup.

FAQ
Are Teammates really always on?
Perplexity says they monitor ongoing work and act when something changes without being prompted. How reliably they do so has not been independently tested.
Do I need the Max plan?
Yes, per the reports: Max at $200 per month ($2,000 a year) is required, and usage draws on its credits.
Is the hundreds-of-teammates idea available now?
No. That is the CEO's stated vision, not a feature described as available today.
