Kimi K3.1 Pro, Codex CLI 0.164, Copilot in Teams, Replit: the October 24 roundup
Moonshot ships Kimi K3.1 Pro (1M tokens, weights promised by Nov 4), Codex CLI 0.164 adds presets, Copilot lands in Teams and Replit adds agent skills.
Four announcements from October 23 and 24, 2026, plus one market figure, taken from official sources: a large Chinese open model, a new Codex CLI release, Copilot in Microsoft Teams and a batch of Replit updates.
Kimi K3.1 Pro: Moonshot upgrades its 3T-class open model (Oct 23-24)
Moonshot AI introduces Kimi K3.1 Pro, the first model in its K3.1 series and a post-trained version of Kimi K3 (Kimi blog).
- Context: 1 million tokens.
- Fast variant: Kimi K3.1 Pro Highspeed, 2 to 3 times faster according to Moonshot.
- Availability: Kimi.ai, Kimi Work, Kimi Code (via
/model) and the API (kimi-k3.1-pro,kimi-k3.1-pro-highspeed), with Zero Data Retention for API customers. For enterprises, access is off by default. - Weights: promised "by Nov 4, 2026". The announcement gives no license and no price.
- Scores reported by Moonshot: 65.7% on Terminal-Bench 4.0 with the Claude Code harness, against 58.2% for GPT-6 Astra and 66.4% for Claude Opus 5.5 (scores taken from vendors or the leaderboard); 61.2% on its internal Kimi Code Bench 3.0 Long-horizon, against 55.95% for K3.
- Cybersecurity: Moonshot says it removed cyber-related data from training. On its internal xdev-bench-hard, the final model solves 81.0% of tasks, against 90.5% without those filters.
Codex CLI 0.164.0: presets and inline settings (Oct 23)
OpenAI ships version 0.164.0 of the Codex CLI (release notes on GitHub).
- Presets: ten numbered
/presetsslots to keep reusable prompts and commands. - Direct settings:
/modeland/permissionstake arguments (model, reasoning effort, speed, permission profile). - Enterprise: MCP connections can authenticate with Codex account grants or a dedicated sign-in, including OAuth clients that need secrets.
- Security: credentials are masked in some remote Bash commands and Zsh sessions; sandbox checks are hardened on macOS.
- Amazon Bedrock: the setup wizard is now on by default.
GitHub Copilot in Microsoft Teams (Oct 23)
The new GitHub app for Teams brings notifications and Copilot together (GitHub Changelog).
- How it works: a bug report lands in a channel, you mention
@github, and it investigates, fixes the bug and opens a pull request for review. - Migration: the legacy app will be renamed "GitHub (deprecated)" and retired on November 16; install the consolidated app to keep Copilot in Teams.
Replit: agent-made skills and apps that stay online (Oct 23)
Replit's October 23 changelog adds several features next to the Monitoring Agent covered yesterday (Replit changelog).
- Skills: the agent can suggest new workspace skills or improve existing ones, which the user approves before they are saved.
- Sharing: a whole chat or a single asset, read-only, with chosen teammates or the whole workspace. Replit warns that development URLs open live servers.
- Out of credits: for eligible top-up customers, published apps keep running at zero credits up to an overage limit; the paid agent pauses.
The figure: +147.7% profit for Cambricon
In the third quarter of 2026, Chinese AI chipmaker Cambricon grew net profit by 147.7% year over year to 1.4 billion yuan, on revenue of 3.5 billion yuan (+104.5%), according to its stock exchange filing as reported by the South China Morning Post. China keeps pushing to replace Nvidia chips with local suppliers.
What it means
Chinese open models keep closing in on closed models for coding, but Kimi K3.1 Pro is an API model for now: weights, license and price are still to come. On the tooling side, agents are moving into the places teams already talk (Teams), and CLIs are gaining enterprise-grade settings.
